Language Revival

Language loss is a worldwide problem that separates people from the richness of their cultural heritage and prevents them from living their full cultural identity and life energy. It weakens cultural traditions and leads to a fragmentation and loss of community. The dominant culture is subsequently deprived of the cultural diversity that contributes to political and economic creativity.

There are no general formulas for reversing heritage language decline. Responding to language decline requires new approaches that respect the unique character of each people and their history and place.

Language Revival helps people re-acquire their declining heritage languages using a blend of creative and traditional social/cultural experiences with educational, linguistic, and film/video resources.

Please visit our Recent Projects and Philosophy pages to see how we are helping heritage communities and groups discover and build on their own resources to reverse language loss and achieve cultural continuity.
